Toraja Adventure Tour 4D/3N

Overview About Tana Toraja Tour Destination:  Tana Toraja, the “Land of the Toraja” is located in the central mountainous region and home to a fiercely independent people that steadfastly adhere to their time-tested traditions. Cliff graves and burial chambers are cut out of limestone rock and balconies are filled with effigies of the dead. Death rituals are somber and joyous at the same time reflecting their respect for the power of life and what comes after. The traditional design of the Toraja house replicates those ships that brought their ancestors to this land. Built on stilts above the ground, the roof, rearing up on both ends, is the most striking feature resembling that of the bow and stern. Manado lies on the north tip of Sulawesi and is an excellent base for the visiting Bunaken Island for its brilliant coral reefs and underwater life.

Day 1 : Makassar – Pare-pare – Toraja
Upon arrival at Hasanuddin Airport Makassar, you will be met and driver directly toToraja by coach through Bugis villages and the misty blue mountains of Toraja, a distance of 308 Km full of fascinating sites. Lunch will be served at seafood restaurant in Pare-pare and a little break taken at Puncak Lakawan, to enjoy tea or coffee. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at Rantepao, and check-in at your hotel for accomodation and dinner.



Day 2 : Lemo-Londa-Ke’te Kesu- -Nanggala-Marante
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken for a full day visit to the ancient stone graves of Lemo, Marante, and Londa. at these sites bodies of the dead are displayed in animistic rituals that are still performed todays as they have been for centuries. At Ke’te kesu, Siguntuk and Nanggala villages you will find traditional Toraja houses which roofs are designed in the shape of boats or buffalo-saddled to mean a vehicle to send the spirit to heaven. Meals are provided.


Day 3 : Fullday of Toraja rafting
After breakfast at the hotel, you will be collected and driven with Landrovers over the mountains to the lovely Maulu river Canyon and then walk 20 minutes by remote village trail to the riverside. From here you will enjoy safe and adventurous whitewater rafting on the Maulu river. This programme is conducted by American trained professional rafting guides, using state of the art equipment. A delicious picnic lunch, drinks, fruit, snacks and cool refreshment at the end of river are included. By late afternoon you will return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.


Day 4 : Toraja – Makassar / Airport
Soon after an early breakfast at hotel, you will be leaving Toraja for Ujung Pandang Airport. Break at Puncak Lakawan, and lunch will be served at seafood restaurant in Pare-pare. Arrive at the airport in the time for reporting and luggage check-in.
